Where I've been featured:

I have been working with photographers (and for them) since 1998. I started with Olan Mills in Portland in 1998 in their school photography division, and then when I moved to Washington, I started Kat Scratches in 1999 as a graphic designer. I worked with photographers on the marketing pieces, and did a lot of business consulting for small business. I won a few awards online for branding and marketing, and continued to do marketing and business consulting (for photographers, sound techs, and bridal coordinators) on the side while working in management for major retailers (Dillards, Macys and AE).

I was let go in a budget cut from retail, and decided it was time to really set out to run a small business. I was hired in as a Special Programs Coordinator and Studio Director and was in that position until June, when I took a very promising contract with a new client as their Studio Consultant and Training Specialist. About 6 weeks after I was hired, they decided that they wanted to go a different direction with their business and my contract ended – which was the birth of Studio Trainer. I have been responsible for running two photography studios almost exclusively, one with support staff, and one without. I have experience with fine art photographers, portrait photographers, low volume boutiques and high volume as well, plus my own boutique studio.

My strengths when training photographers would be in special programs (senior and mom reps, limited editions, schools, teams, and general sector creation, like families, children), special events, sales, marketing and administration/business management. I have done a lot of brand training, and feel that I am skilled at communicating on a variety of levels to make sure that the audience understands what I am teaching.

Now the fun stuff!

Favorite place to hang out: Anywhere outdoors! Well, almost anywhere. As long as it isn’t raining.

Favorite pet/animal: I love Snow Owls, Penguins and White Tigers… I think I see a theme here …

Favorite Song: This is so hard for me! I love music. Right now, it’s probably “Ready or Not” by Bridgit Mendler (but don’t tell anyone) and Swimming Pools by Kendrick Lamar. And "Mean" by Taylor Swift is my latest karaoke conquest :)

Favorite Movie: I love movies like Shutter Island, Inception and even sometimes movies like American Outlaws (that might even count as a guilty pleasure).

Guilty pleasures? Tall triple-shot caramel mochas, salted caramel mochas, chocolate covered coffee beans, karaoke and dancing. And licorice rope :)

Can’t live without? My cell phone. And mochas. Oh, and my kids and awesome husband (yay!! We got married 8/18/2012). And writing. Not in that order… (I think I’m supposed to say that, right?)

Favorite food? I love Italian food, but I think I could eat Teriyaki every day for a year. No joke. Himitsu has *THEBEST* Broccoli Beef Teriyaki.

Favorite place to vacation? Montana! I used to live there, so I love the mountains, the fields, the smell of the air, the horizon that goes on forever, the sunrises that are worth waking up for. This is making me miss it even more.

Place I’d love to visit - I would love to visit Ireland, Italy, Australia and China.

Best invention ever? Android phones. I don’t know what I would do without mine! Social Media is probably the #secondbestthingever. Just sayin.

Favorite thing to do? I love to hike, play baseball and write. If you ask my hubby, he’d probably say “Facebook”. It’s not, I promise.

Favorite Store? It really depends. I have a few favorites – American Eagle, Kohls, Forever21, and some awesome little boutiques.
